About 80 participants including government representatives from Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, AICM member company senior executives, chamber heads and journalists joined the closing ceremony. This closing ceremony provides a platform for each member company to demonstrate how chemical innovations can bring people smart life. The audience saw how chemical innovation applies to and even changes automobiles and smart devices. As Responsible Care is a core value of AICM and its member companies, the audience also saw how multinational companies implement environmental, health and safety standards in their daily operations and how they engage with local communities, to instill more public trust to create a sustainable chemical industry.

This year, under the theme of ‘Chemistry Innovation for Smart Life’, nearly 30 member companies joined the AICM OTP campaign at over 50 sites throughout China. Since May 2017, AICM member companies have been opening their factories and offices to promote innovation in chemical science, enhance information transparency, and advocate harmonious communication with the public and neighborhood partners.

Chemical innovation is also widely seen in many smart personal devices such as smart phones, personal computers and other handheld devices, in which over half of AICM members have businesses with. By realizing technology breakthroughs or materials innovation, AICM member companies play an important role in this industry.
