AICM Delegation Visited JCIA for Regional Regulatory Cooperation & Exchanged on Chemical Management and Implementation of Responsible Care

20171128_JCIA VisitOn Nov. 22, 2017, delegation of AICM visited Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) for regional regulatory cooperation, led by Dr. Alasdair Jelfs, Chairman of AICM. Mr. Jan Kreibaum, supervising director of IPAC, participated the meeting. Ms. Beryl MA, Executive Director of AICM, Ms. Bing WANG, Industry Policy Advocacy Committee Chair, Ms. Karin XU, IPAC Deputy Chair and Head of Regional Regulatory Exchange Platform, and Mr. Shizheng YUAN joined the visit and relevant discussions. The meeting is intended to build connections for high levels between AICM and JCIA, promote regulatory cooperation through the platform and understand more about implementation of Responsible Care and seek for mutual collaborating opportunities between the two parties.

Mr. Hiroshi Watanabe, Director General of JCIA, attended the meeting and welcomed the delegation of AICM. Dr. Jelfs introduced years’ growth of AICM membership and collaborating activities through national and international dialogues especially on key milestones of responsible care. Mr. Jan Kreibaum introduced the IPAC’s contributive roles in bridging extensive dialogues with policy makers for a science-and risk-based chemical management, as acknowledged by all participants. At meeting, regulatory development of chemical management in China and Japan were well exchanged. Specific subjects on KPI report and process safety management during implementation of Responsible Care were well addressed. Both parties committed to regulatory updates sharing and regular meetings for exchange on key issues. The way of such regular exchanges is welcomed by all participants.
