On August 7, 2024, in Nanjing, AICM 2024 Open-to-Public Day was kicked off at  Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park. The ceremony was jointly opened by Xia Fuliang, Chairman of AICM, President Evonik Greater China Region & Head of Division Smart Materials Asia Pacific; Tina Dai, AICM Managing Director; Zhang Yong, Deputy Director of the Emergency Management Bureau of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area and Chen Qingguo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Office of Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park. Representatives from 10 companies that signed the Responsible Care Global Charter, 66 companies from the Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park that have signed the Charter, and 10 communities and school representatives who signed partnership agreements attended the event.

Since its establishment in 1988, AICM has been dedicated to promoting Responsible Care in China. To enhance public awareness of the chemical industry, AICM has been hosting the Open-to-Public Day annually since 2009, marking its 16th year in 2024. Under the global trend of shaping the future with green development, the 2024 event continues the theme "Chemistry Enables a Sustainable Future."

The park is a crucial platform for the development of the chemical industry, playing a significant role in promoting unified safety regulation, centralized environmental management, and coordinated development of upstream and downstream industries, becoming the main front for the industry's growth. In recent years, AICM has leveraged the comprehensive platform of the chemical park to integrate various parties and promote the global initiative of Responsible Care through activities such as the Open-to-Public Day, self-assessment of Responsible Care, and the Chemical Park Responsible Care Tour, building a local culture of Responsible Care. Therefore, the 2024 Open-to-Public Day was strategically held at the Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park.

Xia Fuliang stated: "The Open-to-Public Day is one of AICM's core projects to promote Responsible Care, which has been successfully held for 15 consecutive years since 2009. This event is not only an important window for us to showcase the chemical industry to the public but also a key platform for us to promote Responsible Care and enhance public understanding and trust. Moreover, the Open-to-Public Day is also an important channel for AICM to deepen cooperation with parks and enterprises."

Tina Dai emphasized: "We are delighted to work closely with Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park to promote the practice of Responsible Care and contribute to the high-quality development of the park. We also look forward to more enterprises actively participating in the Open-to-Public Day activities, working together to spread the concept of Responsible Care to a broader audience and jointly promoting the sustainable development of the industry."

In addition to the Open-to-Public Day event, AICM will regularly hold safety salons in the park to help more enterprises recognize the value of Responsible Care and share different practical methods and mature management experiences in response to the management shortcomings and confusions of park enterprises. Concurrently with the 2024 Open-to-Public Day launch, AICM organized a safety salon for enterprise EHS managers in Nanjing, where industry experts shared experiences on work permit management, mechanical integrity, SIS management, and process safety incident management, and held roundtable discussions on abnormal condition safety handling and contractor management. The AICM Safety Salon, through in-depth discussions with enterprise representatives on practical challenges, is committed to helping park enterprises enhance chemical safety management capabilities, which has been welcomed and recognized by enterprises within the park.
