On Oct. 22-23, delegation of AICM visited The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) for regional regulatory cooperation, led by Ms. Beryl MA, Executive Director of AICM. Ms. Servet Gören, Director of International Affairs of Cefic, welcomed the visit of AICM delegation. Ms. Karin XU, Chair of IPAC, join in the meeting and presented the regulatory development in China. The meeting is intended to review the collaborating activities in MOU since 2015 between AICM and Cefic, which is to promote regulatory cooperation through the platform and understand more about global emerging regulation. Both parties agreed that more specific measures will be added to the cooperation memorandum as an annex to further enhance the collaborations. About 40 participants of multinational companies shared the regulatory updates and identified the advocacy points for regulatory cooperation in 30 regions.
Ms. Beryl MA introduced years’ growth of AICM membership and collaborating activities through national and international dialogues especially on key milestones of AICM for promotion of regulatory cooperation. To echo the initiatives of The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) at regional regulatory cooperation, AICM established regional regulatory exchange platform under IPAC since 2015. Monitoring program on chemical management and GHS, initiated since 2016, further enhanced the member's capabilities to learn more updates from Korea, Japan and Taiwan Area and addressed members' interest. Ms. Karin XU presented key regulatory updates and IPAC's contributive roles in bridging extensive dialogues with policy makers for a science-and risk-based chemical management, as acknowledged by all participants.
