On April 18, 2019, AICM hosted 2019 Responsible care® award and Open-To-Public Day Kick off ceremony in Beijing. Nearly 70 industry representatives and delegations from CEFIC, ACC and JICA participated in the conference.
Mr. Jeff Zhu, Chairman of AICM gave the opening speech. He stressed that “AICM aims to benefit all stakeholders in the Chinese industry through positive impact of Responsible Care®.” Mr. Zhou Zhuye, Vice President of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF), talked about the importance of Responsible care® to the sustainable development in chemical industry. Mr. Baudouin Kelecom, Chairman of the Responsible Care® leadership group at the International Council of Chemical Association (ICCA) shared international experiences in Responsible care® and acknowledged AICM’s achievements in China.
AICM has held it’s Responsible Care®’ awards ceremony since 2013. It is a way to show appreciation for the achievements of members in Responsible Care® implementation and encourage more enterprises to adopt Responsible Care®. After a rigorous evaluation process, 21 companies won awards, which including Chairman Awards and Merit Awards.
On AICM Open to Public Day kick off ceremony, nearly 30 member companies will joined the AICM OTP campaign to launch a series sustainable development programs in plants, universities and local communities to showcase their commitment as responsible chemical industry giant to the public, focusing on plastic recycle, energy recycle and communities management, etc.,
“Responsible care®” is AICM’s commitment to sustainability and a key value AICM advocate for over a decade. Open-to-public (OTP) campaign is an important yearly project for AICM, and an integral part of Responsible care® practice. AICM has been promoting it for years. It has established a communication channel between the industry and the public in a scientific and proactive manager, and to promote the development of sustainable and respected chemical industry.’ Mr. Jeff Zhu, Chairman of AICM highlighted.
In the Open-To-Public day panel discussion, participants shared their companies’ achievements and successful experience on responsible care. They also give comments on the importance of Open-To-Public day to the development of chemical industry.
In the Responsible Care® Panel discussion, participants briefly introduced Responsible Care® policy at their Companies and shares some examples covering some elements such as process safety, transport safety, emissions and hazardous waste treatment. They also made comments on how to influence external stakeholders.
Finally, Mr. Mr. Ming Cheng Chien, AICM Vice President, President Asia-Pacific Region, LANXESS, gave a closing speech. He acknowledged AICM’s achievements and contributions in China. AICM is also committed to work closely with CPCIF to tackle the challenges confronting the chemical industry in china.
