18th September, 2019, Hangzhou, AICM and China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) co-hosted the Mayor Forum at the China Petroleum & Chemical International Conference 2019(CPCIC).
As one of the important activities held on conference, Mayor's Forum not only attracted many participants of mayors around the world and senior executives of global petrochemical enterprises every year, but also provided a face-to-face platform to discuss strategy for the development of chemical industry, and to share the management experience and sustainable development of chemical industry. so as to empower high-quality development
Chemical companies have played a vital role in the development of China’s economy. By the end of 2018, the total assets of the petroleum and chemical industry have reached RMB 12.8 trillion, accounting for 11.3% of the total national industrial assets. The mayor forum focusing on three dimensions of future energy development, business environment optimization, and waste-free and green development, discussed contribution of chemical industry as a pillar industry to national economy.
Mr. Fu Xianghseng, Vice Chairman OF CPCIF made a welcome speech and said, “Mayors forum provides a platform for mayors and senior executives to inspire and share experiences of future of sustainable development, to discuss how petrochemical industry promotes sustainable development of cities.”
Mr. Jeff Zhu, AICM Chairman said that AICM has strong confidence to China's future economic development. AICM is willing to communicate with the government, understand community's suggestions for the development of the chemical industry, and jointly promote healthy development of chemical industry. Meanwhile, AICM will continue to work with the China International Petrochemical Conference to promote the implementation of responsible care in China and firmly believe that chemistry will shape our future.
In Mayor Forum, 6 mayors of major petrochemical cities in China, Quzhou, Panjin, Zhangjiagang, Zibo, Pinghu and Pizhou shared the experience of petrochemical industry in promoting the sustainable development of cities.
Mr. Paul Lindblad, Vice Chairman of AICM, as a moderator, led one panel discussion during forum, WACKER, SABIC, LANXESS and ExxonMobil made brilliant speeches and express to keep promoting the sustainable development of the petrochemical industry in China. During another panel discussion, Mr. Qian Mingcheng, Vice Chairman of AICM, interviewed senior representatives from BASF, EVONIK, JOHNSON MATTHEY, PPG, CLARIANT, METHANEX and HOYER to discuss at forum in theme of "Chemistry Shapes the Future, Chemistry industry promotes cities’ Sustainable urban Development ".
At last, AICM has been nominated as "outstanding contributors" by CPCIF in recognition of its great contributions to chemical industry over past 10 years. AICM will continue to work with CPCIF to promote healthy and sustainable development of chemical industry and make contribution to China’s economic development in future.
