AICM Chairman Jeff Zhu met with senior executives from American Chemistry Council (ACC), European Chemical Association (Cefic), as well as Japanese Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) respectively during his attendance to the Steering Committee of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) from October 23-25 at Helsinki, Finland.
The newly elected President and CEO of ACC, Chris Jahn was officially introduced by his predecessor Cal Dooley. Jeff Zhu expressed his sincere appreciation for ICCA granting permanent observer status to AICM, which is considered a high recognition of AICM’s values and role in the global arena. AICM will work closing with CPCIF on Responsible Care promotion by setting a industry park role model in China. Jeff Zhu also extended his sincere appreciation to Cal on his relentless supports to AICM over the years.
When meeting with Mr. Daniele Ferrari, Cefic President, CEO of Versalis, and Marco Mensink, Executive Director of Cefic, both parties agreed to further the current cooperation particularly in regulatory exchanges, Responsible Care as well as sustainability. The two organizations will leverage their experience, resources and advance the cooperation for the mutual benefit of AICM as well as Cefit and its member companies. Right after the meeting, the first addendum to the MoU signed between Cefic and AICM in 2015 was signed by the two Chairs.
The exchanges with Mr. Tsutomu Tannowa, Chairman of JCIA/President and CEO of Mitsui Chemicals, Mr. Hiroshi Watanabe, Director General of JCIA went very smoothly, both organizations agree to continue the sound cooperation and further more information sharing in RC promotion as well as plastics recycling.
Jeff Zhu also had brief exchanges with Baudouin Kelecom, Chair of Responsible Chair Leadership Group (RCLG) on some details issues regarding RC promoting in China.
Though these meetings, AICM’s efforts have been well recognized. AICM firmly establishes itself as the strong and preferred partner to ICCA, sharing common objectives, principles, and practices to promote the sustainable development of chemical industry.
Jeff Zhu also shared with all participants AICM 2019 Sustainable Development report which addressed most of the key concerns from member companies operating in China. Beryl Ma, Executive Director, Karin Xu, Chair of Industry Policy Advocacy Committee (IPAC) joined the meetings as well.
