AICM Releases 2025 Sustainable Development Report

Abstract:Focusing on Material Innovation and Green Value Chain Synergy

Jiaxing, October 30, 2025 – Today, at the China Chemical Industrial Park Development Conference held in Jiaxing, the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (AICM) officially released the 2025 AICM Sustainable Development Report. Centered on the theme "Innovation in Chemical Materials & Green Value Chain Synergy," this year's report provides an in-depth analysis of member companies' practical pathways, driving forces, and challenges in the two core areas of Material Innovation and Application and Green Factory and Value Chain Integration through detailed research and case studies.

Mr. Fuliang Xia, AICM Chairman, stated: "Amid the global movement towards a low-carbon economy, AICM member companies are actively integrating leading global technologies and best practices into the Chinese market. From bio-based materials to chemical recycling, from zero-carbon factories to whole-chain carbon management, we are committed to translating 'green commitments' into 'green outputs' through concrete actions. This demonstrates our commitment to supporting China's 'Dual Carbon' objectives."

Ms. Tina Dai, AICM Managing Director, shared: "This year's report clearly shows that policy initiatives, downstream customer demand, and intrinsic corporate strategy have formed a powerful synergy. As a bridge connecting multinational chemical companies in China with the government, the public, and various stakeholders, AICM remains committed to building platforms for dialogue and promoting experience sharing."

Material Innovation and Application

The report shows that 90.9% of surveyed companies consider a "corporate strategic vision" to be the core driver for promoting material innovation. Bio-based materials (81.8%), high-performance polymers (68.2%), and new energy and recycled materials (nearly 60%) have become key focus areas for these companies. These innovative materials show broad prospects in downstream applications such as automotive lightweighting, high-performance requirements in electronics and electrical appliances, and green packaging.

Green Factory and Value Chain Integration

The survey found that 50% of the companies surveyed have completed Green Factory certification. Companies are promoting the achievement of "intensive land use, harmless raw materials, clean production, waste utilization, and low-carbon energy" in their factories through means such as energy structure optimization, resource recycling, and digital monitoring. More importantly, the industry is moving from "single-point" Green Factory construction to "whole-chain" Value Chain Integration.

Challenges and Opportunities Coexist

The report also provides an in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by the industry. Cost control is the primary challenge for companies (59.1%). Additionally, the level of policy support, supply chain stability, and downstream customer acceptance are also common concerns. Simultaneously, practicing sustainable development brings tangible business value to chemical companies, including fostering technological progress and innovation, enhancing brand image and market reputation, and opening up new markets and customer segments.

AICM's Recommendations

To accelerate the green transformation of the chemical industry, AICM puts forward systematic recommendations in the report:

• Improve fiscal and taxation incentive policy tools

• Build a standardized and international certification system

• Promote collaborative innovation across the industrial chain

• Accelerate the development of circular economy and low-carbon materials

• Optimize the regulatory approval process

In response to the theme of "Innovation in Chemical Materials & Green Value Chain Synergy", AICM pledges to translate the advantages of our platform into concrete actions. We will enhance collaboration among our members by regularly organizing thematic seminars to share best practices in material innovation and green factory construction. We will deepen policy communication, engaging in constructive dialogue with government authorities on the report's recommendations – such as the mutual recognition of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) standards and the establishment of green approval channels – to seek tangible breakthroughs. Furthermore, AICM will demonstrate to the public, through a variety of events and initiatives, how innovations in chemical materials are enabling the green transformation of downstream industries, thereby enhancing public understanding and trust.
